Event Tiebreakers - Strength of Schedule

How are the standings determined at the end of each round or event?

HCUnits uses a few different calculations to determine tiebreakers and eventually determine standings within the Swiss rounds of Events.

  1. Wins: The players with the most wins will be at the top of the standings. As per the General Tournament Rules, Byes count as Wins.
(If applicable) Party wins followed by individual player wins will be used in multi-player events.

  2. Opponent's Win Percentage: The first tiebreakers are based on how well your opponent played in the event, thus giving a small advantage to those who played more successful opponents.
The first of these is the average win percentage of your opponents, calculated as:
    Opponent's Win % = (Sum of Each Opponent's Win %) / Number of Opponents
Additionally, each opponent's win percentage cannot be lower than 30% and byes are not used in this calculation.

  3. Opponent's Opponent's Win Percentage: works in a similar manner, but takes the average of your opponent's "Opponent's Win Percentage", as the name suggests:
    Opponent's Opponent's Win % = (Sum of Each Opponent's Opponent's Win %) / Number of Opponents

  4. Head-to-Head: if two players have played each other in the event, the winner of that match will be placed above the other.

  5. Random: if all other tiebreakers have been exhausted and a tie remains, the order is resolved randomly.

Each of these calculations is visible within the Round or Overall Standings pages of the Event.
