Events
The HCUnits.net Events system provides functionality consistent with the WIN, while advancing the state of the art in other areas, that we'll detail below!
First, anyone will be able to create an Event, regardless of how big or how small, whether online, at their local venue, or at a large convention! And as with everything on HCUnits.net, there's no cost or fee for using it! All you need is your existing HCUnits.net account!
Those interested in organizing an Event simply need to navigate to HCUnits.net/events/ to start. Fill out the basic Event information and once created, others will be able to see and register!
In addition to the event types you are accustomed to seeing on the WIN, (constructed, sealed), HCUnits.net Events also supports Battle Royale, with players-per-match ranging from 2 to 4, and even Super Sealed formats, where teams are built from multiple booster sets! Also, we follow the standard HeroClix tournament formats of Swiss and/or Single-Elimination.
As players, when you register for the Event, you also have an option to directly link your HCUnits.net team! At the start of the Event, organizers and judges will be able to access the team and very quickly verify that it's valid using HCUnits.net instead of manually checking hand-written (ugh!) build sheets!
Once the event has started, everyone will have access to those builds directly through the Event page!
As a player of the Event, you have access to a personal event page that shows your pairings and table for your current as well as previous matches. It also allows you and your opponent to directly input match results, which the organizers will have access to, allowing them to quickly accept or mediate any differing results!
In addition keeping track of the winner and score of each match, you can also denote which player went first in order to gain insight into this important metric!
Throughout the course of the Event, all players and spectators will have access to up-to-date information, including round pairings and results, and overall standings. Single Elimination phases will show a clear bracket so you can see who your upcoming opponents will be upon your success!
Events where players have linked their teams will have an Event-specific "Meta" page, which not only shows the most popularly played units, but also which units appeared the most on winning teams!
Event organizers have an option of linking media, such as YouTube videos, directly in the Event page, so it will be easier to directly find recorded matches and other great content done by our amazing community members!
Venues
Stores and other recurring locations can now be registed as "Venues" on HCUnits.net! When creating Events, you can tie it directly to a Venue to more easily help people find and register for those Events!
